The Polish Ofshore Wind Industry Chamber (PIMEW) continues the mission of the Polish Offshore Wind Energy Society (PTMEW), develops its achievements and expands the functions and tasks previously performed by the Polish Offshore Wind Energy Society (PTMEW) and carries out its activities with enlarged representation and statutory bodies.
The Society was registered in 1997 as one of the first industry organisations promoting wind energy development in Poland. Between 1997 and 2011 the Society operated under the name Polish Wind Energy Society.
Since 2008, the organisation has focused its activities exclusively on promoting the development of offshore wind energy in Poland, participating in international projects, organising conferences and seminars, developing concepts and analyses, cooperating with the government administration and supporting work on enabling legal solutions.
In 2011, the General Assembly decided to adapt the name of the organisation to the actual profile of its activities, i.e. to adopt the name: Polish Offshore Wind Energy Society. The name change was consulted with partner organisations and received a positive opinion from the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA).
